Eski bir yahudi mahallesi olan Barrio Santa Cruz mahallesi, Sevilla'ya gelenlerin mutlaka uğraması gereken bir yer. İspanya kralı 3. Ferdinand kenti müslümanların elinden aldığında yoğun olarak yahudi nüfusun yaşadığı bu mahalle zamanla hristiyanların eline geçmiş ve yahudi nüfus azalmış.

Barrio Santa Cruz mahallesine gitmek için sevilla katedralinin olduğu sokaktan geçip mahallenin sokaklarına giriş yapabilirsiniz. Aynı zamanda Real de Alcazar yani Alcazar sarayının giriş kapısının yanındaki surların olduğu sokaktan da mahalleye giriş yapabilirsiniz. Her iki yer de şehrin merkezinde olduğundan çok zor olmayacaktır bulmak. Zaten mahalle labirent gibi inşa edildiği için neresinden girerseniz girin kaybolmak zor değil. Çoğu yol birbirine çıkıyor mesela.


Barrio Santa Cruz mahallesinin çevresi, Jardines de Murillo, Alcazar Sarayı (Real Alcazar), Calle Mateas Gago ve Calle Santa Maria La Blanca ile çevrilidir. Labirent gibi tasarlanmış olan mahallenin sokaklarına girdiğinizde iki kişinin bile zor geçebileceği darlıkta sokaklar olduğunu göreceksiniz.

Santa Cruz'a girdikçe restoranlar, hediyelikçiler, cafeler ve tapas barları göreceksiniz. 2-2,5 Euro civarında olan bir tapas denemeden ayrılmayın. Mahallede amaçsızca dolaşarak ayrı bir keyif yakalayabilirsiniz. İçerisinde bir çok kilise, katedral ve gezilecek mekanın olduğu bu sokakların tarihi dokusunu gezerek yaşayabilirsiniz. Şehrin en güzel Flamenko gösterilerinin yapıldığı mekanlarda bu mahallede bulunmaktadır. Bir çok restoran veya barda flamenko gösterisi izleyebilirsiniz. 20-35 Euro aralığında bir fiyatla bu gösterileri izleyebilirsiniz. İlginizi çekerse ara sokaklarda bir çok sanat galerisi de bulabilirsiniz.
